New book The Open Secret: A New Vision for Natural Theology has just been published by Blackwell Publishing. This substantial book sets out a new way of thinking about natural theology, reestablishing its legitimacy and utility. The books attempts to set out an intellectually rigorous vision for a renewed natural theology as a point of convergence bwteen the Christian faith, the arts and literature, and the natural sciences. Natural theology is about seeing nature from a Christian perspective, and hence discerning its truth, beauty and goodness. Further details from here. |
Natural Theology Conference in Oxford A major international conference is taking place at Oxford from 23-25 June, dealing with the future of natural theology. Leading speakers include Alister McGrath, Richard Swinburne, Keith Ward, Simon Conway Morris, John Haught, John Hedley Brooke and Peter Harrison. This web site has been designed for those who want to know more about McGrath's approach to Christian theology, and provides the basic information that is needed by journalists or researchers, especially those interested in the interaction of the natural sciences and Christian theology.
The web site provides details of McGrath's publications, as well as material relating to how best to use his best-selling textbooks on Christian theology; his approach to natural theology; his interaction with atheism, especially the forms of scientific atheism associated with writers such as Richard Dawkins; and his work on the mutual interaction of the natural sciences and Christian theology. The web site is under development, and its features will be expanded as time progresses.
